^*^ Chelsea complete loanee recall as they seek January reinforcements

Chelsea short of numbers

Injuries are plaguing Chelsea’s season. Ben Chilwell and Reece James have both been ruled out for the next few weeks, Chilwell for the season, while the likes of Trevoh Chalobah, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku have all had spells on the sidelines.

So, it is no surprise to see them looking to be active in the January transfer window, as they continue to compete across four competitions as well as having the Club World Cup to play for next month.

Kenedy to return

Now, in somewhat shock news, Kenedy is set to return early from his loan in Brazil.

The Brazilian has been on the Chelsea books since 2015, but has made just 27 senior appearances for the club, becoming part of the once fabled “loan-army” at Stamford Bridge. Now, he finds his way back to west London.

However, he will not be coming back to play at left wing-back, as per Goal.com’s Nizaar Kinsella.

The man, generally reliable on all things Chelsea, reveals that instead the Brazilian had another loan move lined up, and therefore will not be remaining at Stamford Bridge for very long at all.

This means that a deal for a left-back remains in the works, with Emerson Palmieri’s recall still the most likely option it seems.

Will the Blues be able to bring in suitable cover by the end of January?
