Liverpool star Konstantinos Tsimikas believes the club have signed an ‘incredible player’ in Luis Diaz and expects the forward to make a big impact in English football.

Liverpool wrapped up a £37.5million deal with Porto for Diaz at the weekend, with the Colombia international putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year contract at Anfield.

The Reds had initially intended to wait until the summer to coax Diaz away from Porto, but a rival bid from Tottenham saw them bring forward their move for the 25-year-old winger.

Diaz adds yet more quality to Jurgen Klopp’s all-star attack of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino and he will no doubt be raring to go with his new club.

However, Diaz only touched down in England on Thursday so it’s unlikely he will be involved in the side’s FA Cup fourth-round tie with Cardiff this weekend.

The Colombian first caught Klopp’s attention during Liverpool’s Champions League clash with Porto back in November and it’s clear he also left an impression on Tsimikas, his new team-mate on Merseyside.

‘Everybody is looking forward to seeing him with the Reds,’ the Greece full-back told Liverpool’s official website.

‘Obviously, when we played against Porto, I think he was their best player.

‘I’m looking forward to meeting him, speaking with him and to be here for whatever he wants. I’m pretty sure he will help us a lot.

‘I didn’t mark him but I really like his skills. He really goes for one against one, he didn’t think too much. I like him a lot as a player.

‘I like it when a player doesn’t think too much and goes direct to score himself and to try to do something for his team.

‘Hopefully I will see it here also. He’s an incredible player.’

It’s been a positive few days for Liverpool, with Harvey Elliott pictured in full training for the first time following a horror ankle injury.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been sidelined since mid-September and Tsimikas is delighted to see his young team-mate nearing a return.

‘I’m very happy for him. We are very close,’ the Liverpool left-back added.

‘Obviously when he got injured, I felt so sad for him. But finally he is here, he is healthy.

‘You saw it from the start, he’s 100 per cent OK, you saw again his skills.

‘For us, it’s very, very important as a team to have him back as a person and as a player also.

‘We are very happy and I’m sure he will help us for the rest of the season.’
