Liverpool and Senegal forward Sadio Mane paid for a boy’s entire medical bill whilst he was in hospital during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Mane scored the winning penalty in Sunday’s shootout against Egypt to guide Senegal to their first-every victory in the tournament.

But the 29-year-old was taken to hospital after he suffered a concussion from the head collision with Cape Verde’s goalkeeper during Senegal’s last-16 fixture.

And while he was in hospital, Mane is said to have helped out a family who were unable to afford the medical payments for their son who had been hit by a motorbike.

‘I think I told you about the generous gesture that Sadio Mane made in Bafoussam to help a family,’ Jean Paul Akono told Cameroonian channel EquinoxeTV.

‘The family was in distress because a motorcycle had hit their child who had broken bones and injuries over his body.

‘He was close to death and his parents could not afford to pay for treatment.

‘And Sadio, who was in this hospital for his concussion, found this grieving family and asked them what is going on.

‘They explained the situation to him and he gave them 400,000 FCFA [£514] which relieved this family.

‘I believe that this blessing was rewarded today by god.’
