The Lionesses have proven to be a formidable team going into the tournament, breaking records under Wiegman’s management, who took charge in 2020.

Ellen White became England’s all-time record goals scorer (overtaking Kelly Smith), during a 20–0 demolition of Latvia in November 2021.

The game was a multi-record-breaking one, as three other players scored a hat-trick (Beth Mead, Lauren Hemp, and Alessia Russo), marking the first time four players had scored a hat-trick in a senior England women’s game.

The game is also the largest victory for both men’s and women’s senior England sides, surpassing the women’s team’s 2005 13–0 win against Hungary and the men’s 1882 13–0 win against Ireland.

How to watch on TV

Every England and Northern Ireland game will be shown on BBC One, while others will be on BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Four or available to live steam on BBC iPlayer.
