Celtic have won their second successive Scottish Premiership title with a 2-0 victory over 10-player Hearts.

Celtic’s win marks another chapter in the epic historic battle between themselves and Rangers, with both clubs scrapping it out to be known as the most successful team in Scottish football.

But exactly how many trophies have Celtic and Rangers won in total in their history?

Let’s look at the number of titles won by the two Old Firm rivals.

How many trophies do Celtic and Rangers have?

Celtic have won 115 trophies in their history, whilst Rangers have won 117.

Ange Postecoglou’s men, having beaten Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final in April, will have the chance to narrow the gap to just one trophy when they play Inverness in June’s final.

Whilst Celtic have won 11 of the past 12 Scottish Premiership titles, Rangers still hold the edge in terms of the number of league titles with 55 compared to Celtic’s 53.

The tally of 55 Premierships won by The Gers is a record for the most domestic league titles won by any team in the history of football.

The only league title Rangers have won in the last decade arrived in the 2021/22 unbeaten season under the management of Steven Gerrard.

Rangers also have more Scottish League Cups with 27 victories compared to the 20 won by their rivals.

  • Cup Winners’ Cup – 1

Total: 117

But it’s The Bhoys who have the upper hand in the Scottish Cup, winning the competition 40 times to Rangers’ 34.

Celtic can also boast having won the European Cup with victory over Inter Milan in the 1967 final in Lisbon.

Rangers have indeed won one European title, however, with victory in the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1972.
