Jurgen Klopp defended Drawin Nunez following the Liverpool striker’s bust-up with Pep Guardiola following Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late goal helped secure a highly creditable point and a 1-1 draw for Klopp’s side, who brought an end to the Premier League champions’ astonishing 23-game winning run at the Etihad Stadium.
Asked if Nunez’s reaction was prompted, in part, by the intense nature of the epic recent rivalry between the two clubs, Klopp played down the response of his No.9 and insisted the situation was dealt with instantly.

‘It has nothing to do with a fierce rivalry, I don’t know what you want to make of that,’ said Klopp.
‘It’s not a fierce rivalry, we’re rivals. But it’s a fierce rivalry? Where do you see that? Challenges on the pitch?
‘This situation after the game has nothing to do with a historical fierce rivalry. I don’t think Darwin Nunez knows anything about that.
‘Emotions, yes. I’m not sure I’m the one who should explain it becaue I was absolutely not involved, surprisingly.
‘I love them both so I tried to calm the situation down without knowing what happened 100% because I did not understand a word.
‘It’s nothing that is not already sorted. It’s emotion.
‘Pep wants to win, we want to win. Both didn’t win so obviously nobody is really happy and these things can happen.’
