The draw for the last-16 knockout stage of the Champions League will take place today with Europe’s elite waiting to learn their fate.

Eight teams booked their places in the last 16 at the first opportunity, by finishing in the top eight of the group stage.

Liverpool, Barcelona, Lille, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Arsenal and Inter Milan have all been patiently waiting for eight more sides to join them.

Bayern Munich, Benfica, Club Brugge, Feyenoord, PSG, PSV, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund booked their places after navigating their way through play-off ties with Manchester City and Celtic among the sides eliminated this week.

AC Milan and Juventus have also crashed out beaten by Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven respectively.

When is the Champions League last 16 draw? Date and start time

The draw will be made today on Friday 21 February with proceedings underway at 11am UK time at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The Champions League draw will be available to watch live in the UK on TNT Sports 1 and available to stream on the Discovery+ app and the TNT Sports YouTube channel.

Liverpool lost their last group stage game but it made no difference as they finished top of the group stage having won their first seven matches.

Up next for Arne Slot’s side will be one of Paris Saint-Germain or Benfica.

Aston Villa’s win over Celtic on the final day of the group stage saw them grab the eighth and final spot to see them straight into the last 16.

It was a superb achievement from Unai Emery’s men and they will be rewarded with a game against Borussia Dortmund or Club Brugge.

Dortmund beat Sporting 3-0 in their play-off first leg on Tuesday, while Atalanta play away to Club Brugge on Wednesday night.
