Manchester United tried to loan out their Brazilian forward Geyse while she was attending her brother’s funeral, her agent has claimed.
United signed Brazil international Geyse from Barcelona in the summer of 2023 as a replacement for England forward Alessia Russo, who left the club to join Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has struggled for game time however and has revealed her unhappiness with life at the club, eager to leave Manchester.
In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday night, she wrote: ‘Staying in a place where we don’t feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling.’
Her social media comments follow allegations made from her agent Luis Filipe Silva, who has claimed United attempted to send her on loan to a club in the USA while she was in Brazil for the funeral of her brother, who died following a car accident in January.
‘As you know, her brother passed away, she is going through a very difficult time, it is a very difficult time psychologically and at Man United she is not having the best time, Silva told Telegraph Sport.
‘She needs to regain the joy of playing football and doesn’t have it for several reasons.

‘The club has clearly shown that it does not count on Geyse, Man United tried to loan Geyse to a club in the USA, but the player has the right to decide about her future and the club she will play for.
‘It was clear that the club and the coach don’t count on her – the pressure of being in a place where you feel you are not wanted is tremendous. It is a huge psychological pressure. We are sad and want the best for Geyse.’
Silva added: ‘Man United made a huge effort to sign Geyse from Barcelona, her quality is recognised by everyone.
‘The best solution for all parties is to leave and I repeat, Man United was the first to try to loan the player when she was at her brother’s funeral.

‘We are aware of Geyse’s value and at peace, because even with few opportunities, it is with pride that we know that the best coaches in the world want Geyse, and they are coaches elected as the best in the world and who have already won everything, they are top coaches and clubs, we are happy that they can clearly see Geyse’s talent and how to enhance it.
‘At the moment the best solution is for Geyse to be loaned, it is good for all parties. Now we hope that the club will show common sense and understand Geyse’s situation and not make negotiations difficult, since they were the ones who offered the player behind our backs.
‘Geyse needs to be happy again and have peace.’
United responded in a statement: ‘We continue to support Geyse in her wellbeing and look for options which suit all parties.’
Geyse came off the bench in United’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Sunday but her cryptic social media message posted later that evening revealed her unhappiness at the club.
‘Staying in a place where we don’t feel happy is an agonising and lonely feeling,’ she wrote.
‘Every day seems heavier, and the simple fact of being there becomes a burden. The environment, which should be welcoming, becomes a field of discomfort, where inner peace is difficult to find.’
Later reports suggest NWSL club Gotham FC, based in New York, are in talks to sign Geyse before the new season starts later this month.
