^ ^ Dear Sarina – Euro 2025 glory beckons thanks to you and our fearless Lionesses

So here we are again – the final. You’ve led dear England to three major finals in four years and a first trophy since 1966.

Where would we be without you? It’s a golden generation but great teams need great leaders and we have you. Never mind Southgate – Sarina, you’re the one.

You and our Lionesses won hearts by winning Euro 2022, becoming household names.

Young girls had new heroes. Young boys, too. Interest in the women’s game exploded as a new army of fans fell in love with players who looked like them, but it isn’t just about the football, is it?

With fame came the ugly side but you stood with your players and showed what strong female role models look like.

Racism, sexism, misogyny. What chance did our opponents have after England faced down that wretched lot.

Your team have shown the summer of 2022 was not a beautiful one-off.

World Cup finalists in 2023 and now another final, these girls are built to last. It’s not been easy, it never is. You are a Dutchwoman with an orange heart who has become truly dear to England.

We thanked Gareth before and now we just had to do the same to you and your players.

You know the drill. Sweden 2-0 up? Tricky. Call the finishers. Ice-cool Chloe Kelly, Michelle ‘Sweet’ Agyemang. Last four here we come. Sorry Italy, this one’s ours. Losing again! Send for Michelle, thank goodness for Chloe.

A bit close for comfort but you made it. Now, the final. Spain await. They may be the world champions but we belong here too.

We hope you’ve practised penalties and how about an early goal? We love the finishers but can we see them earlier?

Whatever… with you in charge, we’ve got a chance. In Sarina and our Lionesses we trust.
