The Premier League champions take on the FA Cup winners in the Community Shield on Sunday, as Liverpool face Crystal Palace at Wembley.

The Eagles are playing in the traditional curtain-raiser for the new season for the first time after their triumph over Manchester City in north London in May.

The Reds are back in the Community Shield and are looking to win it for a 17th time after their dominant Premier League title win under Arne Slot.

Only Manchester United (21) and Arsenal (17) have won the Community Shield more times than Liverpool.

The new Premier League campaign is now less than a week away, with the Reds hosting Bournemouth on Friday night in the first contest of the season.

Palace have a longer break after the Community Shield and get their season underway on Sunday at Chelsea.

Recent meetings between the two sides have been very even, with a win, draw and loss for each in the last there contests and an aggregate score of 2-2.

The match kicks off at 3pm on Sunday August 10 at Wembley.

What TV channel is the Community Shield on?

The match is being shown on TNT Sports, with coverage starting at 2pm and streaming available through Discovery+.

What are the extra-time rules in the Community Shield?

There is no extra-time in the Community Shield, although there will be a penalty shootout if the game is level after 90 minutes.

Liverpool vs Crystal Palace team news

Liverpool fans are likely to see new signings Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez in action at Wembley.

Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk have missed some pre-season action but are expected to play on Sunday.

Conor Bradley is unlikely to be risked and Joe Gomez is out, while Alexis MacAllister can play, but not the whole game.

Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucoure remain out for Crystal Palace, but otherwise Oliver Glasner’s side is in good shape.

The likes of Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi have been linked with summer moves, but are still with the club and available.

What is the Community Shield prize money?

The clubs involved do not take prize money from the Community Shield, with proceeds from the match going to good causes.

The FA explains: ‘Proceeds from the match go towards community initiatives and charities in the London Borough of Brent and around the country. Communities across England are supported through football projects run by EFL in the Community; funding is provided to the FA’s official charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society; as well as to community projects based in Brent.’
