Chelsea have received an offer to finally offload bomb-squad player Axel Disasi – but they cannot accept it because of FIFA’s transfer rules.
Disasi joined Chelsea from Monaco in a deal worth £38million in January 2023 but his career at Stamford Bridge was over before it had a chance to get going.
Enzo Maresca put the centre-back up for sale last season and he spent the second-half of the campaign on loan at Aston Villa.
Upon his return in the summer, he, alongside Raheem Sterling, was banished to the ‘bomb-squad’, training away from the first-team and, rather humiliatingly, forced to eat alone and use separate toilets.
Chelsea hoped to sell him off in the last transfer window, but despite interest from multiple Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Crystal Palace, a move never materialised.

Since then, Disasi has been reintegrated into first-team training, with coaching staff impressed by his professionalism and positive influence on academy players.
Nevertheless, the France international is still up for sale and has suitors such as Roma, Lyon and Paris FC, according to Fabrizio Romano.

BBC Sport report that Roma are the most interested party and want to sign the 27-year-old on loan, and Disasi’s preference is to move abroad.
It’s a deal that would appear to be suit all involved but in fact the transfer cannot happen due to FIFA’s rules on loan deals.
Regulations state clubs may only loan out a maximum of six players – not including homegrown stars – to foreign clubs and Chelsea have already filled their quota.
This includes Nicolas Jackson’s expensive short-term move to Bayern Munich and the trio of Mike Penders, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez who were loaned to the Todd Boehly-owned Strasbourg.
As a result, if Disasi is to leave west London in January for a club abroad, it would have to be on a permanent basis. That could change if Chelsea were to recall a loan player and Disasi could still be loaned out to another English club however.
It remains to be seen whether Roma will follow-up their interest but in any case it seems Chelsea are set to take a huge loss on the player who still has three-and-a-half years left on his contract.
