Tottenham are closing in on a shock deal to sign Andy Robertson from Liverpool this month.
Robertson, 31, has entered the final six months of his contract and recently indicated he was keen to extend his stay at Anfield – but only if he is getting regular first-team football.
Summer signing Milos Kerkez is now Arne Slot’s first-choice at left-back however, with the Scotland international limited to just four starting appearances in the Premier League.
Tottenham were among the clubs interested in signing Robertson as a free agent at the end of the season.
But The Athletic report Spurs are now working on a deal to bring him to north London this month.
The report adds talks between all parties are progressing ‘amicably’ in a bid to reach an agreement.
Liverpool and Robertson expect to part ways on good terms and while the player is wary of leaving his club short for the second-half of the season, first-team football is a priority for him ahead of Scotland’s World Cup campaign where he will be captain.

‘I’ve got five months left and we need to see what the option is to stay or if there’s options to go and things like that,’ Robertson said earlier this month.
‘I need to sit down with my family and decide.
‘After a stressful summer, I’m just trying to enjoy being a part of it and being a Liverpool player.
‘I wanted to qualify for the World Cup and thankfully, we’ve managed to do that. I need to see what myself and my family wants going forward.’
Robertson has achieved legendary status during his nine years on Merseyside. Signed for just £10million from Hull City in 2017, starring at left-back throughout the club’s glory years under Jurgen Klopp.
The Scot has won two Premier League titles, two League Cups, a Champions League and an FA Cup during his time at Liverpool.
At 31 years of age, Robertson’s first-team opportunities under Slot have dried up with the vast majority of his football coming in the Champions League and cup competitions.
