Liverpool are seeking to put another huge dent in Manchester City’s fading Premier League title hopes this afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side are nine points adrift of Arsenal after the Gunners’ victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

They can reduce that gap again today but they will have to get a win at a ground where they have tasted victory just once in the last 22 Premier League matches.

Liverpool’s defence of the crown is long gone but 10 goals in their last two matches at least has them in goal scoring form again.

The Reds will be without Jeremie Frimpong however with the Dutchman forced off in the 6-0 win over Qarabag with a muscle injury.

Joe Gomez is also a major doubt although he could be deemed fit enough to make the bench.

City meanwhile were handed a major boost this week with Ruben Dias back on the bench as an unused substitute in the Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle.

John Stones is also back in training but is not ready to return to action with Josko Gvardiol also still sidelined.

Further up the pitch, Bernardo Silva is a doubt having picked up a knock in the draw with Tottenham last Sunday.

Savinho and Jeremy Doku are also unavailable but Rayan Cherki, who returned to the bench against Newcastle after picking up a knock at Spurs, could reclaim his spot alongside Antoine Semenyo.

Marc Guehi is expected to start against the club who were convinced they had him signed, sealed and delivered at the end of the summer transfer window.
