^*^ Everton launch formal complaint following Manchester City VAR controversy

Everton have announced that they have launched a formal complaint against the FA following a VAR controversy that occurred in their 1-0 defeat to Everton.

Late in the second half, with the Toffees trailing by a goal, it seemed as though Rodri had handled the ball in his own box, leading to Everton demands for a penalty.

Frank Lampard was left speechless after the defeat, telling media outlets that ‘I’ve got a three-year-old daughter at home who could tell you that’s a penalty… It’s incompetence at best, if it’s not that, then someone needs to explain to me what it is.’

And as per Sky Sports:

‘The club are ‘absolutely incandescent’ at some of the refereeing decisions made in recent games and they are demanding at the very least an apology for manager Frank Lampard and his team.’

Too little, too late?

This news comes a fortnight after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta revealed that he was planning on having a discussion with the Premier League board about some of the recent refereeing decisions against the Gunners.

More and more refereeing decisions are coming under scrutiny across the Premier League and English football more broadly, with discussions about potential right or wrong decisions even coming to the fore in the Carabao Cup final.
