There was interest in Oleksandr Zinchenko from two of the biggest clubs in Europe, but Arsenal received no offers for the out-of-favour Ukrainian.

The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta, making just two Premier League starts so far this season.

The former Manchester City man has made 13 appearances in all competitions, but he has mostly been limited to short spells off the substitutes’ bench.

The versatile full-back and midfielder is still well regarded, with interest in him from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid, but nothing materialised in the winter transfer window.

The Daily Mail report that there was ‘a level of interest’ from the German and Spanish giants, both keen on a loan deal for the Ukrainian.

However, Arsenal preferred to sell Zinchenko on a permanent transfer and neither Dortmund nor Atletico firmed up their interest with an official offer.

The squad player is under contract with Arsenal until 2026 and is set to be available for transfer this summer, with the Gunners open to offers.

Zinchenko joined the Gunners from Manchester City in 2022 and made 27 Premier League appearances in both his first two seasons at the club.

However, injuries and form have seen him slip down the pecking order, as has added competition in the Arsenal squad.

Jurrien Timber and Riccardo Calafiori are keeping Zinchenko out of the side at left-back, while there is plenty of competition in central midfield, where he has also turned out at times.

Arsenal have a weekend off due to their early exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester United.

The Gunners are in Dubai enjoying a warm weather training camp before they return to Premier League action on Saturday at Leicester City.
