Arsenal will kick off their Premier League 2025-26 campaign against Manchester United on the opening weekend of the new season.

After a third consecutive season as runners up, Mikel Arteta’s side are hoping to end their hoodoo this time around.

Arsenal take on defending champions Liverpool on matchday three and also face the likes of Manchester City and Newcastle in their opening six games.

The 2025/26 Premier League season will start on the weekend of August 16/17 – just 83 days after the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The Gunners ended the 2024-25 campaign 10 points behind champions Liverpool with their title bid derailed by key injuries throughout the campaign.

Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes all missed significant potions of the season.

Arsenal are still to make any additions to their squad so far this summer but have held talks to sign Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko with hope one of them can arrive in north London to fill a void up front.

A winger is also thought be high up on Arteta’s list of priorities with Real Madrid star Rodrygo and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon two options under consideration.

What Mikel Arteta has said ahead of new season

Despite falling short the last three seasons, Arteta is convinced Arsenal are on the brink of something special.

While there are couple more pieces of the puzzle needed this summer, he believes something special is brewing on the red half of north London.

‘Everything that is planned for preseason and the first few weeks of the season has already been done two or three months ago, so we are now really good.

‘And the moment I start to think about that, I feel goosebumps and excitement, and this is a really good sign always.’
